![]() HULL
There is lots to keep you busy in the City of Hull all within easy reach of each other. There are several interesting museums: In the Museum Quarter you will find the Hull and East Riding Museum which contains a treasure trove of archaeological finds including roman mosaics and pottery and a woolly mammoth! The Streetlife Museum is a family favourite with trams, buses and recreations of days gone by where you can even try out what a carriage ride was like. The Maritime Museum in the city centre in Queen Victoria Square showcases maritime life through the ages with ship models and whaling and fishing artifacts. Opposite the Maritime Museum is the Feren's Art Gallery which has a superb art collection and regularly changing exhibitions. There is also a children's area for the younger children. Heading towards Trinity Minster, you will find the Hands on History Museum in Trinity Square which is open every second Saturday in the month. Housed in the old Grammar school, this shows what life was like in Victorian times for children. Head towards the Marina and you will find Humber Street where there is an ever-changing variety of things to see and experience. There are a range of bars, restaurants and cafes on Humber Street. Half way down you will find the Humber Street Gallery which has refreshments and regularly changing exhibitions. It is also home to Dead Bod - a historical artwork. At the top end of the street you will find Dinostar which contains many interesting Dinosaur relics and facts. From Humber Street it is just a 5 minute walk to The Deep - Hull's aquarium. We have visited The Deep scores of times over the years and have never been disappointed. It is home to many different types of fish, reptiles, insects, sharks, turtles, penguins and much more. It is definitely worth a visit. |
