FERENS ART GALLERY
Lots of fun seeing and learning about microbes and bacteria at the Ferens Ar Gallery in Hull. There is a microbes exhibition on at the moment (on until September 1st) where there are lots of inflated, moving microbes. The children loved it! Ferens Art Gallery
A great time had by all as always. The views here are amazing. We were lucky enough to get camped by the river and very much enjoyed watching all the river life - the duck with her ducklings, the goosander with her babies on her back, the cows coming down to drink, the rabbits, the sandmartins - it's a true wildlife smorgasbord. MOTHER SHIPTON'S CAVE
We have been a few times to Mother Shipton's Cave and have enjoyed it every time. There is lots of interest to see there and it is a beautiful walk along the River Nidd, through the woodland, past the adventure playground to the petrifying well (England's oldest visitor attraction - open since 1630) where the magical water has turned various items to stone. Just around the corner from this you come to the wishing well and Mother Shipton's cave. This week is half term week and there is a dinosaur and unicorn event on. There is a trail going on and fun unicorn and dinosaur activities to do and even a real live unicorn!
CJ WILDLIFE PEANUT CAKE
I love this time of year. The birds have been very industrious in building their nests and the baby birds are just beginning to emerge. We are lucky enough to have quite a lot of birds that visit our garden and we have tried and tested many different kinds of bird feeding bits and pieces over the years. The one that is by far the most popular is the peanut cake from CJ Wildlife. In the last few days we have seen robins, starlings, chaffinches, blue tits, great tits, coal tits, blackbirds and our resident woodpecker makes multiple visits to this throughout the day. We are now on the 5th or 6th generation. We expect the woodpecker babies to show up any day...fingers crossed!

Mmmm look at this deelicious warm falafel wrap from The Falafia in Trinity Market, Hull. What a taste sensation! I don;t think I have ever had fresh falafel. The shop bought stuff is not a patch on this. It was cooked to order and was warm, moist and full of flavour. There are loads of extras and dressings that you can add so you can have it as plain or as supercharged as you like. I did not have The Boy with me on this occasion, but i will definitely be returning with him. I think he will love trying this fresh goodness. Yum Yum!

MRS WORDSMITH - STORYTELLER'S WORD A DAY BOOK
We have been very much enjoyed this book so far. A4 sized, it is a flip book that you can stand up. Each word is illustrated in a child-friendly and humorous fashion. There are 20 words a month(one for each school day) and the book runs for the school year (September - May). Our favourite April word was VERDANT. It is late Spring here at the moment - I love this time of year, everything is indeed looking particularly verdant...
LEGO DIVING YACHT WITH SAWFISH
Calling all marine enthusiasts...Hace a look at this LEGO set: The lego diving yacht. It comes with a diving yacht, two scuba divers and its very own sawfish...The boat actually floats so a lot of fun can be had in the bath or a paddling pool or the like...We came across this at Waitrose, they are also available on Amazon.
SPURN DISCOVERY CENTRE
Today's Top thing is the Sourn Discovery Centre. We have very much enjoyed our visit. There is a wealth of information in the centre, such as fossils that can be found and local wildlife and habitat. The cafe is excellent - it offers a god selection of hot and cold ffresh food and delicious cakes. The cafe is dog friendly and offers great views of Spurn Point.
