WOLDS INN - HUGGATE

THE WOLDS INN - HUGGATE
Our favourite place for Sunday lunch is the Wold’s Inn in Huggate. We normally like to visit here after a walk either in Millington Wood or through Millington Dale. It is nice and cosy inside with a log burner. There is a selection of Dominos which you can play with which keeps The Child amused whilst waiting for food and there are also newspapers available.
We normally eat in the bar but there is also a restaurant for more formal dining and in better weather you can also eat outside. The food always arrives quickly and is delicious – we normally have the roast beef which comes with big portions of Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes and a selection of vegetables.
The Child loves it which always makes me happy that he has had a good hearty lunch. The Dog loves it as she gets the left overs. The Child also particularly likes the chocolate sponge and chocolate custard for pudding. So much so that I have been inspired to look up how to make chocolate sponge pudding (my cookery lessons at school are a very distant memory). It actually looks quite easy! Who knew…I might even give home made chocolate custard a whirl, let’s hope it doesn’t end up looking like lumpy sick a la the last time I tried to make custard (which was actually at school I think) but I do have the memory of using the sieve to get the lumps out, oh yes and then burning it. Actually I might just buy it…
The Wolds Inn gets a big tick from me and a big tick from The Child (and The Husband and The Dog too).
