ROZEL CAMPSITE - JERSEY

ROZEL CAMPSITE
So we have now arrived in Jersey and disembarking from the ferry, it was time to get to our campsite. There are only a handful of campsites in Jersey and the one we had picked was Rozel Campsite. Located near Rozel Harbour in the top right of the island, it looked like a very nice campsite online with lots of nice facilities and a swimming pool. It took about 20 minutes to reach from the ferry terminal down some at times very narrow roads. Upon arrival we were thrilled, we had definitely chosen a great place to stay!
There are 4 fields available at Rozel Campsite – the Dam field which is at ground level and 3 fields at the top. From the seaview field you do indeed have a view of the sea and France. We were in the Dam field at the bottom which was perfect for us as this is just a field for tents / small campervans and is quite sheltered. As well as tents, caravans and motorhomes can also go in the top fields.
The campsite has a lovely heated swimming pool. There is also a small children’s paddling pool. There were ample sunloungers around the pool with umbrellas for shade. There is also a mini golf area (free to play), a games room with a table tennis table (bring bats or you can buy them from the shop) , pool table and air hockey. There is also a reading lounge where there is a selection of books and a TV room. At the back of the top fields is a grassy play area with some swings and climbing frame and sandpit. There are 2 amenities blocks and a laundry room with washing machines and a dryer and ironing facilities.
We were very impressed with everything that was on offer and it just kept getting better...there is full wifi and 4G and the onsite shop is great – it is open for a few hours in a morning and evening and stocks everything you might need from camping essentials (gas, firelighters, charcoal etc.) table tennis bats, swim rings, goggles, balls etc. and has a good selection of food. In the freezer you will find tasty frozen steaks and sausages and bags of ice and you can rent freezer blocks for little money. And the bit that made me very happy was the very cold tasty pink wine in the fridge. Fresh bread and pastries are delivered each morning and if you ask you can order some cabbage bread which is a Jersey speciality apparently and is made from bread baked in cabbage. It did indeed have quite a cabbagey taste and we really enjoyed trying it. It was nice just with butter and also with cheese and pate.
If you don’t fancy bringing your own tent and all the stuff that goes with it, you can hire a fully equipped tent which is all set up with everything you need inside. They seemed to offer ample space and good equipment and people who were staying in them seemed very happy with it.
The Child had a wonderful time, there were lots of children from different countries there. He played with children from Northern Ireland, France, Germany , Jersey and the UK and they all had great fun in the swimming pool and games room and playground.
Then we get to the location. As Jersey is only 9 x 5 miles everywhere is reachable, but if you don’t fancy driving anywhere, a short walk (about 20 minutes) will take you down to Rozel Harbour. (The best route we found was down the Rue de Caen and then turn right onto La Vallee de Rozel. These are green lanes so very quiet with hardly any traffic and you go through a lovely lush valley with really interesting trees and plants.) At Rozel Harbour you can do some rockpooling, stone skimming, eat at the Hungry Man kiosk in the harbour and the Rozel Tea Rooms or the Rozel pub. And good news, there is a bus stop in Rozel Harbour, the buses go twice an hour and will take you right back the hill to the bus stop just outside the campsite – and dogs are allowed on at the bus drivers discretion.
So the campsite is great and the location is great. It is a family owned campsite and all the family and people who worked there were very friendly and extremely helpful. We spent 10 nights there and I was very sorry to leave. We will definitely be returning here.
Rozel Campsite gets a big tick from me and a big tick from The Child ✔️✔️
